George is a co-founder and managing partner of Home Savings & Trust Mortgage (HSTM), where he oversees daily operations. With over three decades of experience in the financial industry, George’s journey began under the mentorship of Gary McInturff, founder of HSTM, where learned the values of integrity, teamwork, and dedication.

Over the last 20 years, Home Savings & Trust has continued to grow, a testament to the commitment of our exceptional team members. George’s expertise in mortgage lending has been key in originating over $1,000,000,000 in personal home loans, providing countless families with the keys to their dream homes.

A proud graduate of Herndon High School in 1982 and Hampden-Sydney College in 1986. Beyond his professional achievements, George’s commitment to serving his community shines through over 10,000 hours of volunteer work.

In 1994, George married Sandra Fleetwood Light, hailing from Yorktown/Radford. Together, they have raised two remarkable children; Jordan Light Montgomery, a graduate of American University in 2017, and Travis Light, who earned his MBA from Florida State University in 2021 after graduating in 2020. One of his greatest honors is getting to work alongside his two children and brother, creating a true family atmosphere. George enjoys spending quality time with family, watching basketball and occasionally enjoying a nice glass of bourbon.

Fun fact: Between his two kids, they have 2 conference championships in basketball (Patriot League for American University & ACC for Florida State), 5 NCAA appearances, 3 sweet sixteens and one elite 8.
